SHANGHAI – Christie®, the leader in inspiring exceptional experiences, is pleased to announce its partnership with the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) for the 14th consecutive year.
This year’s festival, which runs from June 9-18, is themed "Embrace All, Follow the Light" to rally members of the organization to work together and build an inclusive culture for the film industry. Christie is providing cinema projection and support for the opening and closing ceremonies of the SIFF. Christie cinema projectors will also be used for the adjudication of films nominated for the prestigious Golden Goblet Award for Best Film. During this period, more than 400 films from around the world will be screened in 41 cinemas located across Shanghai, including those equipped with the CINITY Cinema System and Dolby Cinema™ that utilize Christie’s state-of-the-art projection technology to deliver spectacular visual experiences.
On June 9, the Christie CP4420-Xe cinema projector was deployed to screen the highly anticipated opening film Love Never Ends by Chinese director Han Yan, starring Dahong Ni and Kara Wai in the lead roles, with special performances by Hong Kong superstars Tony Leung Ka Fai and Cecilia Yip. This is the first time that Christie’s advanced CineLife+ Series cinema projector featuring ultrafast electronics processing and excellent image performance is used at the SIFF. The Christie CP4420-Xe will also screen the film festival’s closing film One and Only on June 17, which is expected to be attended by numerous international filmmakers and celebrities.
"Over the past decade, Christie has cultivated a strong partnership with the SIFF, and we are thrilled to participate in this esteemed event for the 14th consecutive year, providing cinema projection support for key screenings and events," said James Li, executive director, China Cinema, Christie. "We highly value the SIFF’s confidence in Christie to deliver an unparalleled visual journey for moviegoers. Our cutting-edge cinema solutions and technologies faithfully translate filmmakers’ visions, elevating the movie-watching experience to new heights."
In addition to the SIFF, Christie’s cinema projection technologies have illuminated screens at renowned film festivals worldwide, including the Cannes Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival, where Christie maintains longstanding partnerships. These prestigious events have provided an exceptional platform for Christie to captivate audiences with innovative cinema projection technology, showcasing the artistic visions of filmmakers in vibrant detail on the screen.
Currently in its 25th edition, the SIFF seeks to foster overseas partnerships by bringing together Chinese and foreign film professionals to explore issues such as technological innovation and international film cooperation. The film festival will also continue to uphold its philosophy of taking root in Asia, supporting new talents, gearing up to drive further development of Chinese films and boost confidence in global film art.
Founded in 1993, the SIFF is the only competitive film festival in China accredited by the Paris-based Fédération Internationale des Associations de Producteurs de Films (FIAPF). The festival focuses on awards, markets, forums and film exhibitions so as to build an international platform, and promote the development of the Chinese film industry.
